Born and raised in Santa Barbara.  I lived in Los Angeles for more than 20 years and San Francisco for 2 years.  I now live in Silver Lake, California which is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Los Angeles.  Disney studios started here.  I've spent a number of years working in the entertainment industry on both sides of the camera.  

A few years back, I started a business in Bali where I designed and manufactured my clothing line – The Opal Garden. 

It was a business I knew nothing about, yet it was exciting to play, create and see just how far I could go. 

The business is now in wonderful hands and is still growing (without me).  These beautiful clothes are in the window display of LA's Nordstrom department store. 

I am also a Legislative Ambassador to the American Cancer Society.  I am accountable for my district's congressman to align with any legislation that forwards the end of cancer.  Our mission is to end cancer by 2015. 

At the start of 2005, I was diagnosed with stage iv endometrial cancer.  Today I am on my 3rd round of treatments,  The cancer would have been detected much sooner if we had colorectal screenings available to the public.  

At ACS, we are working on many things to support cancer survivors including stopping the health insurance companies from disriminating against pre-existing conditions. 
 
You may be wondering how I am doing after reading this.  I am doing great. Treatments will be done at the end of February '08.  The doctors don't think surgery will even be necessary after that.
